Delete your account

How to delete your account

Pick whichever of these fits your situation. All three lead to the same result.

  1. In the mobile app. Open the menu (the three lines at the top left), tap Account, scroll to the Danger zone and tap "Delete my account". Read the summary of what will happen, tap Continue, then enter your password to confirm. Your account is deleted straight away and the app returns you to the login screen.
  2. On the web. Sign in at https://service.servantsheart.app/account, scroll to the Danger zone and use "Delete my account". You will be asked for your password to confirm, and the deletion takes effect straight away.
  3. If you can't sign in, or no longer have the app. Email hello@servantsheart.app from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We will confirm your identity by replying to that address and then delete the account for you. We respond to deletion requests within 30 days.

What is deleted

  • Your login and password, so you can no longer sign in.
  • Your name, phone number and profile.
  • Your membership of every church you belong to.
  • Anything you are rostered for from the following day onwards.
  • The dates you had marked yourself unavailable, and the positions you were tagged for.
  • Your notifications and notification settings.
  • Your personal calendar subscription link.
  • Any unused invitation sent to your email address.

What is kept, and why

Some information is kept because it belongs to your church rather than to you.

  • Your serving history — the record of who served on which date, including anything scheduled for that same day. This belongs to your church as its record of who served, and your name on it is replaced with "Former member".
  • The messages you sent in your team's chats, and anything you wrote in prayer requests, so those conversations still read properly for the people still in them. Your name on them is replaced with "Former member", but the text of the messages stays visible to the people in those conversations. There is currently no way for you, or for a church admin, to delete individual chat messages.
  • Your church's own directory entry for you — the name your church typed into its member list, and any notes it wrote there. That record belongs to the church, not to us, so we do not delete it on your behalf. At the churches you are currently a member of, we clear the contact details on that entry (email address, phone number and date of birth) and unlink it from your account. Ask an admin at that church if you would like the entry itself removed.

Good to know

Deletion is permanent. We cannot undo it or recover the account afterwards. There is no waiting period: the account is removed as soon as you confirm.

If you are the only admin of a church, the app will ask you to deal with that church first, so it is not left with nobody able to manage it: either make another member an admin, or close the church (which permanently deletes it and everything in it, for every member). If neither option fits, email us and we will help.

If you only want to leave one church and keep your account, use "Leave this church" on the same Account screen instead.
